Great Central Road

Maybe I worry too much and my life is short of the Australian “no worries” in general. But do you know this stupid feeling that after something you very much worried about turned out well you’re slightly disappointed because you think it was a bit too easy? The almost perfect road allowed a high average speed so I was able to escape the big rain that followed me in my neck and threatens to make the road impassable.

Nonetheless it might look easy, the fact that I ran through it that quickly shouldn’t deceive how demanding such a road is for your equipment. Especially the corrugations take its toll, quite some pieces of my stuff show heavy damage. The lifecycle of the saddle bags are near an end, several straps are broken, the backpack tightened on the rear slowly dissolves and the GPS device finally went on strike even on paved roads now.

What concerns Buddhie and me, we’re fine. I decided not to leave Kalgoorlie until the rain definitely passed Western Australia. And with the sun, with a good sleep in a bed rather than in stormy winds on the floor, my judgment of what we’ve done will be a more positive one. Kick it!
